Rey Major to the Third Power – When Robots Talk

I remember when I was a kid I had this infatuation with robots. My sister asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I had to take a minute and think about it. While I was thinking I looked for inspiration and asked her what she wanted to be, and she said she wanted to be a Bruja (Witch).

It was either a witch or a firefighter. I don’t remember right now, but the point is I ended up saying I want to build robots when I grow up. My sister isn’t a witch or firefighter and I don’t build robots, but I did make a song about robots. The song was inspired by a steampunk type vibe.

You can hear the sounds of air escaping from the robots, the metallic pounding of industrious labor, and the electrical whirring of a robot … talking.

It’s on my YouTube Channel and my music artist name is Rey Major to the Third Power or “RMΒ³”. Thanks in advance.

Bonifacio Global City: A Vlog of the Condo I Stayed In.

BACKGROUND: In 2019 I had the privilege to visit my fathers home country; the Philippines. I flew with Philippine Airlines – by the way they sell your data to third parties – and it was a no stop flight averaging 16 hours from LA to Manila.

It was long and my feet swelled up really bad, but on the bright side I got to see Crazy Rich Asians and damn near cried out loud with joy. It was a good movie and I recommend watching it.

I also learned the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is on Netflix in other countries, but is not on Netflix in the United States. Fresh Prince is one of my childhood shows, how can it not be on Netflix in the United States!

Okay, I am starting to rant and that’s not what this post is about. It’s about my trip to Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

BGC is a lovely area and is metropolitan in every sense of the word. I would wake up, put my shoes on, take the elevator down, and walk to the nearby Starbucks every morning. They have huge skyscrapers, modern shopping centers, friendly locals, jeepneys and tricycles, but everything you could want and need is walking distance.

If and when I move to the Philippines I would start here, learn Tagalog, and venture to higher ground.

Performance Activism: Racism Bit and Banter.

BACKGROUND:

In order to satisfy my requirements for a bachelor of arts in communication studies I took a class in theatre and performing arts. The class focused on activism and creating positive change, through creative expression and improvisation.

Neither the guy holding the unplugged microphone nor my past self with the long hair are racist, but we do acknowledge that racism exists and are thus not ignorant to the reality of the social issue. Race is a social construct and thus can be deconstructed through social means.

The One With the Teacher Taking My Yo-Yo.

The One With the Teacher Taking My Yo-Yo.

It starts with a solicitor given permission to present yo-yos to the entire 3rd grade class. Everyone buys a yo-yo, including me, and they become an instant hit. I start learning tricks and sharing techniques with my classmates.

The teacher confiscates my yo-yo because I wouldn’t stop playing with it in class so I run home to my dad and cry hysterically. I ask my Father if he could get my yo-yo back, and he agrees, grabbing his keys, and loading his piece; a handgun.

I created a monster. My Father was an alcoholic and drug addict, and had been known to make questionable decisions. Bringing a loaded handgun to an elementary school was one of them.

Trying to deescalate the situation I tell my father that it’s not a big deal. We continue to walk around campus, we walk through the halls, and literally no one is to be seen. I tell my father again that I don’t need my yo-yo and that the teacher promised to give it the next day.

We go home. The end…. Kinda.

TL;DR

Watch the video!

We’re All Walking Antennas.

We’re All Walking Antennas.

I made this in December 2018, but I finally got around to posting it. It was meant just for me and I decided that it was too funny to hide from the world. Then again, that could just be the narcissist in me. Either way… Enjoy!
